Michael W. Waldrop, Ph.D., has been executive director of the Mississippi School Boards Association since August 2004. A former adjunct professor at the University of Mississippi and Mississippi College, Waldrop served as trainer for the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) on The Superintendent’s role in Accountability and Assessment and as the Liaison for the Mississippi Association of School Superintendents (MASS) with the State Board of Education. He currently serves on the National School Boards Association (NSBA) Liaison Committee and is a former member of the MDE Blue Ribbon Commission for the Redesign of Administrative Preparation, the Mississippi Institute of Higher Learning Blue Ribbon Committee for the Redesign of Teacher Preparation, the MDE Career Pathways Oversight Committee, the University of Mississippi School of Education Alumni Chapter Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors of the Commission on Secondary and Middle Schools of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. He was formally recognized by MASS for Outstanding Educational Leadership and received the prestigious Golden Lamp leadership award from the Mississippi Association of School Administrators. Other recognition includes the Excellence in Leadership Award from the Delta Rural Systemic Initiative, Distinguished Alumnus Award from Delta State University, and Alumnus of the Year from the University of Mississippi School of Education. Dr. Waldrop earned a Ph.D. and M.Ed. in educational administration from the University of Mississippi and a B.S.E. from Delta State University. Denotris R. Jackson, MSBA Assistant Executive Director, formerly served as MSBA Director of Advocacy / Policy and also as Director of the Center for Board Development. A member of the Clinton Public School District Board of Trustees for seven years and a former MSBA president, Jackson’s professional career includes Early Childhood Administration in both the private and public sector, as well as real estate sales and marketing. The Jackson State University graduate has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Early Childhood Education. She also is a graduate of Leadership Clinton and the Disney Business Institute. Additionally she is an adjunct instructor at the Southeast Bible College and actively participates in the community through her church, Greater Bethlehem Temple, and the Junior Auxiliary of Clinton. Anissa Young, CRSM, CSIWCP, has been Insurance Program Manager at MSBA since November 2005. She formerly served as workforce training specialist for Hinds Community College in Raymond. At MSBA, Young is responsible for all aspects of MSBA’s insurance program offerings including the MSBA Workers’ Compensation Trust and the MSBA Property & Casualty Trust. Her active involvement in the activities of the Mississippi Association of Self-Insurers (MASI) –– including serving on the board of directors –– led to her election as 2013-14 MASI president. She also chairs the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission Advisory Council. Paul Chamblee, MSBA’s Manager of Governmental Relations, monitors legislative developments, keeps members up to date on activities, and promotes MSBA’s key priorities among state and federal lawmakers, the State Board of Education, and other agencies.. He previously served for two years as MSBA’s Risk Management Specialist and was a longtime District Manager for Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation prior to joining MSBA. Chamblee, a former president of the Leake County School District Board of Education and a former president of the MSBA Board of Directors, served on the Leake County School Board for 18 years, serving 16 years as the board’s president. He earned a B.S. degree in Secondary Education from Mississippi State University. Contact: Email.
Alexis Cole, MSBA Coordinator of Marketing and Social Media, maintains the association’s social media presence including postings to the association’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts. She also is responsible for marketing sponsor and exhibitor opportunities and overseeing the association’s Business Affiliate Program (BAP). Cole, a former employee of the Walt Disney World Company, is an alumnus of Jackson State University and a member of the Mississippi School Public Relations Association. Contact: Email.
