Effective school boards and superintendents provide leadership to set high expectations for student achievement and learning. School board teams accomplish this by clarifying the school district’s purpose and direction. A Strategic Plan guides and focuses the actions of the district, schools, and department levels. The plan provides direction for both long and short-term decision-making by the school board and the district administrative leadership team to fulfill the mission, vision, and goals of the organization. MSBA’s experience and knowledge can assist you in putting your district’s strategic plan on the right course.
In summary:
As a complimentary member service, MSBA will meet with the board and superintendent to determine the planning needs. Over the course of six (6) hours, MSBA will perform the following:
• Meet with the board, superintendent, and stakeholders selected by the board to explain the process and expected outcomes.
• Facilitate the process of building a plan from scratch or revising current district plans.
• Review the District’s Mission, Vision, and Goals
• Facilitate the forming of or revision of District Goals (3-5 Max)
• Begin the process of developing action steps to achieve the District Goals
• Facilitate the creation of a schedule/calendar to update the plan and to provide reports to the board
Should school board members desire continuing education credit, six (6) hours may be earned by attending all training. The cost of such option is $210.00 per board member.
