Conference Hotel Information:   

Sheraton Flowood The Refuge Hotel & Conference Center:  A Reservation Code will be sent once registration for the 2025 MSBA Annual Conference is complete.  The code will be included on the MSBA Annual Conference registration confirmation.  Once the participant is registered for the conference, the participant and the submitter of the registrations will receive a confirmation email.  Click the registration details link to receive the hotel reservation code.

Annual Conference:
  • Time: Opening General Session begins at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday
  • 6 Hours of CEU Credit available on Tuesday
  • 3 Hours of CEU Credit available on Wednesday
  • COST for Tuesday-Wednesday: $600.00*

*Higher Fees for Non-Membering Districts

 The Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) will host the 52nd Annual Conference on February 24-25, 2025 at the The Refuge Hotel & Conference Center in Flowood, MS.

 

Annual Conference Overview

The MSBA Annual Conference brings together school board members and education leaders from across the state to share information that shapes the future of our students. The conference provides two and one-half days of significant presentations and experiences to energize your leadership team and district.  

School leaders will gain ideas and strategies through the Early Bird Leadership seminar, general sessions, concurrent sessions, speakers, demonstrations, and exhibitors with cutting-edge content, best practices, and the new ideas to support student achievement. Join the many school board members, superintendents, and education leaders from across the state to gain valuable knowledge and information in several key areas including:

Governance and Leadership

Effective leadership skills are necessary to transform public education. Discover the value of using governance tools resources to accomplish the mission of the district.

Advocacy

Learn about current state and federal topics that are affecting education leaders and impacting local control and governance.

School Board Policy

Having comprehensive policies in place to guide district and school operations is critical to the successful operation of a school district. Learn about required policies, governing by policy, and recent policy revisions.

Planning

Boards of Education need to ensure that school districts and students will be better able to meet the demands of the future by instituting an ongoing, comprehensive planning process. Learn how to set and monitor goals, to align resources, and to achieve district goals and priorities.

Evaluation

Selecting and evaluating the superintendent is one of the school board’s most important jobs. A quality superintendent evaluation process helps develop good board/superintendent relationships, provides clarity of roles, creates common understanding of the leadership being provided, and provides a mechanism for accountability.

District leaders share how innovative approaches can improve student achievement amid economic and other challenges

School Law

Participate in essential training for board members and superintendents to learn about the ever changing world of school law.  Hear from the experts about the most recent laws and litigation affecting school districts.
